About naiya 

There’s a woman burned into my memory: at a festival, shoulders crowned with feathered pauldrons, body painted in color and dust. She danced like the earth was rumbling underneath her, like she was conjuring something ancient and electric. The music wasn’t just around her — it was moving through her, alive in her bones. Fierce and joyful, grounded and free, she carried something primal in every step.

And then I saw her again — decades older this time. A seventy-year-old at a Grateful Dead cover show, in a halter top, mini skirt, and compression socks (yes, compression socks). At first, I recoiled. I thought: this isn’t how a woman “should” look at seventy. But I was wrong. She was the same woman, alive and uncontained, moving with the same untamed music, the same fire, the same freedom.

That’s the truth: she isn’t just those two women. She’s all of us. Different ages, different stages, but the same spirit. Unapologetic. Creative. Fierce. Primal. She is naiya (nah-yah). She is the tribe.

naiya was born to hold that same energy. To create pieces that aren’t about status but about soul — alive with traces of the earth, sacred symbols, and cultural artistry. Not precious, not untouchable, but meant to be lived with, loved, and carried. Each piece is a reminder — of strength, of presence, of truth. Beauty, fire, and faith woven together — not separated, not diluted, but alive in one place.

I created naiya because I wanted to hold onto something I saw — the strength, the freedom, and the soul in women who live fully at every age. Every design begins as a sketch at my desk and a prayer in my heart — a reminder to stay grounded, to stay alive to the beauty and the fire within.
